Frequently asked questions.

  • Two night minimum stays.

  • All properties are available for short breaks or full week bookings

  • Departure time is 1000 hrs, arrival time is from 1500 hrs

  • Wagtail Retreat welcomes children over the age of 12 years.

  • Please note we have a very friendly dog called Bertie and Wagtail Retreat is his home. As well as his brothers who live a field away. If you are allergic to dogs or have a dog that has difficulty with other dogs please let us know. Please note that though Bertie is not allowed in the huts, he will be running around the grounds. And you may see his family walking about too.

  • Early check-in: we are unable to store luggage for any guests arriving before the check-in time of 1500 hrs.

  • Wi-Fi – all huts have Wi-Fi, password details for each hut are included in the welcome pack.

  • Due to our rural location, nothing more substantial than loo paper to be flushed into the system.

  • Only guests listed on the booking form can stay or use any of the facilities at Wagtail Retreat.

  • The accommodation cannot under any circumstances be used for partying, or playing loud music or general nuisance behaviour. We ask please that all guests have respect for the environment they are in and other occupants at the time of their stay.

  • We do not accept hen or stag group bookings.

  • We have a strict No Smoking/Vaping Policy in and around any of our properties. Any evidence of this will incur a fee of £250.

  • Full payment is due in advance of occupation, this will be taken on the day of booking.  Credit card details will be held on file to cover any damages or other costs. Upon receipt of payment we will send you confirmation of your booking via email.  You may extend your stay at any time, subject to availability. 

  • Extra charges - Pretty much everything is included in the price you have paid for your stay at Wagtail Retreat. 

  • Dogs: We welcome up to two dogs per hut for a small additional charge of £25 per hut to cover extra cleaning.

  • Electric Vehicle Charging: Soon we will have electric vehicle charging available, for which we charge for the electricity used by the guest charging their vehicle. Please contact us with any questions on this hello@wagtailretreat.co.uk or tel. +44 (0) 7961 977 640

  • Damages: any damages have to be paid for; we do not charge for the odd glass and plate, however it is worthwhile checking to see if your insurance or credit card covers you for major breakages whilst on holiday. Otherwise we recommend you look into Holiday Insurance.

  • Wild swimming: We offer wild swimming for a bracing start to your day but have restricted swimming times to protect our local wildlife. Guests can swim between 6-9 am every day. We do not offer any lifeguard attendance, therefore all swimmers do so at their own risk.

  • Anyone who is intending to swim must sign a swimming declaration form and give it to either James or Chloe before entering the lake.

  • Wine: each hut will receive a complementary bottle of fizz as part of our Wagtail Welcome.  No alcohol will be provided if guests staying are under 18 years of age.

  • No Fireworks or Chinese Lanterns under any circumstances.

  • For any sufferers of hayfever, we have a wildflower meadow and are based in a rural location, so during the year our pollen count will be high.
