Doggy Rules

We very much welcome dogs to Wagtail Retreat but would ask that you adhere to the following rules:

  • On arrival please keep your dog(s) on the lead while you unpack, take your things from the car to the hut and get your bearings. It’ll take a few minutes to get to know the site and where the walks are.

  • There will be other guests with other dogs on site so please keep your dog(s) on a lead in the car park and around the other properties.

  • Each hut will contain a dog bed, dog treats, a dog bowl, dog towels, Bramley’s Digby Dog Wash and compostable pooh bags.

  • Please only use the dog towels to dry your dogs, please do not use the shower room towels.

  • Please do not let your dogs onto the beds as they may damage the bedding.

  • We would greatly appreciate it if Dogs did not use the sofa’s but if yours is one that cannot resist a jump up we would be grateful please to cover it with the throw provided.

  • Please clear up all doggy poop using pooh bags – this includes poop on the grass as well as the paths, as there may be other guests who are not used to dogs.

  • Please put all poo into the black, general rubbish bin in the main communal parking area.

  • If you are part of a group booking, and your party has taken two or more shepherd’s huts, the dog(s) must remain in the Hut that the dog(s) were booked into. If they are going to enter the other Huts the dog fee per cottage must be paid in addition, as each Hut will need additional cleaning.

  • Your dog(s) must not be left alone in the Hut or left alone to free run over the property.

  • There is a lovely bridle path walk, accessible from the lake where you can take your dog (s) for an early morning walk – please see the walk sections.

  • Dogs are only allowed in the marked areas – they are not allowed near the owner’s house and gardens as they have chickens and other animals and it may also damage the wildflower meadow.

  • Please keep your dog(s) under close control at all times, for their own safety as well as the comfort of others.

  • Please respect the countryside, ensuring your dog is always on a lead especially around livestock when you are out on a walk.
